But It's Tradition, Dammit

December 24, 2008

MyPicture

I have taken approximately 3,923,001 pictures of that child over the past three years, and I have NEVER once seen him make that face. I'm so glad I got to pay $16.99 for this once-in-a-lifetime expression of Complete & Utter Goober.

(I do like how Ezra's just trying to blend in, striking the patented T-Rex-can-only-see-you-if-you-move pose. Good work, son.)

Happy Holidays. We're off to introduce the new man to the family and eat a lot of pie.

Well, at least it's not a screamer. Those are always fun!
Happy Holidays, Amy!

Merry Christmas!

Posted by: butterflygirl | December 24, 2008 at 10:38 AM

Aww, I think it is cute! We didn't even try to get one this year...will I regret that later? Probably. Oh well.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Posted by: nonsoccermom | December 24, 2008 at 10:39 AM

The Complete and Utter Goober Face is pretty fantastic. Also Ezra's spirit fingers? Adorable! Merry Christmas!

Posted by: Hilary | December 24, 2008 at 10:52 AM

Aw, he looks precious, as does the sleeping bundle that is Ezra. :) Hope you and your family have a great holiday! Travel safely. :)

Posted by: Maxine Dangerous | December 24, 2008 at 10:56 AM

Enjoy the family! That picture is really sweet.

Posted by: Christy | December 24, 2008 at 11:13 AM

Happy Holidays! And the kid is smiling for a photo that you paid for. That itself is pretty amazing. My sisters kids are both sobbing hysterically and Santa is looking off into the distance with a look of harassed woe.

Posted by: Jen | December 24, 2008 at 11:16 AM

At least your son will get in Santa's lap! Mine just runs away screaming. He's scared shitless of Santa Claus, and I have no idea why.

Hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas!

Posted by: Mary | December 24, 2008 at 11:20 AM

Merry Christmas to you all!

Posted by: Alison C | December 24, 2008 at 11:29 AM

Merry Holidays!!

Posted by: Christina | December 24, 2008 at 11:52 AM

Hey...at least you made it there. With us being out of town this past weekend, I didn't get the boys to see Santa.

Posted by: Kristin | December 24, 2008 at 12:08 PM

OMG! How did you swing a pic with the REAL Santa as opposed to a "helper"? Seriously, that's a good lookin' Santa...and the kids, well, the kids are friggin' adorable no matter what faces they make! Merry Baby's First Christmas! (enjoy your pies)

Posted by: Breezy | December 24, 2008 at 12:09 PM

I'm pretty sure that face is the "I'm supposed to like this guy and he must be sort of cool because he brings me presents, but oh shit he's also kind of scary looking and they'd better hurry up and take this picture so I can get off this dude's lap" expression.

Posted by: Adrienne | December 24, 2008 at 12:48 PM

Oh, I think Noah's expression is adorable.

Ezra sleeping is precious.

There not crying, so it is a win.

Have a wonderful Holiday.

Posted by: Maria | December 24, 2008 at 12:48 PM

Love the Christmas sweater! Where did you get it?

Happy festive season.

Posted by: Christine | December 24, 2008 at 01:13 PM

Everyone needs a goober picture in their album.

Merry Christmas to all of you!

Posted by: Starbuck | December 24, 2008 at 01:21 PM

Ha! Oh Santa pix are the best. This year my three year old is striking a very convincing "I'm totally not up to something" pose that's reminiscent of the Stewie Griffin Santa pic from Family Guy...meanwhile the 4 month old is a perfect chubby cheeked angel.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Posted by: marcoda | December 24, 2008 at 01:21 PM

Ezra's practicing his 'jazz hands'! They both look so cute! In our little guy's first, and so far only, pic with Santa, his expression looks like someone called his name and he's thinking, "Whuh?" with his mouth open.

Posted by: avonlea | December 24, 2008 at 01:46 PM

Happy Holidays!

Posted by: Brandi | December 24, 2008 at 01:50 PM

Awesome.

Merry Christmas, Amy!

Posted by: Angella | December 24, 2008 at 01:55 PM

such beautiful boys, gooberface and all. and spirit fingers. man, this is a great holiday!! =D

enjoy it!

Posted by: vanna | December 24, 2008 at 01:55 PM

Utterly gorgeous! Couldn't be more perfect!

Posted by: aadrw | December 24, 2008 at 02:13 PM

Yes. The Santa Photo right after my son got The Diagnosis was the one he decided to raise his arms outward, put on a goonie expression, and generally look like A Very Special Child even though he totally never, ever has that look in Real Life.

I am sure the relatives who saw that photo felt a swell of "Oh yes, he IS Special"

I guess Santa brings out the best, eh?

But Noah? That is cuteness. And so nice for a Peaceful Ezra.

Enjoy the holidays!

Posted by: Karianna | December 24, 2008 at 02:14 PM

That isn't bad at all! :) At least the Santa looks half way jolly. I have seen some that look completely miserable.
Thanks for another year of blogging! Hope you have a nice holiday and have a good trip to visit your family! Merry Christmas!

Posted by: Stacie | December 24, 2008 at 02:40 PM

Merry Christmas!

Posted by: Rachael | December 24, 2008 at 02:59 PM

I think he looks great, and little Ezra all snuggled into Santa's bowl full of jelly looks heavenly. Merry Christmas to you and yours! :)

Posted by: alison | December 24, 2008 at 03:17 PM

Oh, it's a keeper. The Santa looks authentic at least. I debated taking my 10 wk old out to get a pic w/Santa and decided not to....now I wish I had!!! Merry Christmas!

Posted by: Heather | December 24, 2008 at 03:21 PM

I would have thought that this would be a moment that Noah would absoulutely fuhREAK OUT. But no? Santa's OK? Yay!

Posted by: tj | December 24, 2008 at 04:33 PM

Merry Christmas!

Posted by: Missy | December 24, 2008 at 08:57 PM

That's a great pic and you have some very handsome children. Merry Christmas!!!

Posted by: Shannon | December 24, 2008 at 09:24 PM

that, is hysterical.

Merry x-mas to the storch clan and a happy and healthy new year.

Posted by: jodifur | December 24, 2008 at 09:43 PM

I just spent the past five minutes laughing at that picture, and now I feel like a terrible person. But the goober face is amazing..

Posted by: Alison | December 24, 2008 at 10:06 PM

Merry Christmas!

Posted by: Mrs. Who | December 25, 2008 at 07:50 AM

No joke, I didn't see Ezra until you told me he was there. A T-Rex would never spot him.

Posted by: Kyla | December 25, 2008 at 06:00 PM

I almost spit up my oh-so-potent egg nog (not the kid friendly kind either!) when I read your "T-Rex" bit!. Are you trying to make me choke and have to go to the E.R. on Christmas, no less?!

Posted by: Brianna Storch (no relation) | December 25, 2008 at 06:24 PM

For serious, I didn't even see Ezra in the pic at first! Merry Christmas!

Posted by: Jen | December 25, 2008 at 07:00 PM

Dude, he smiled. That is success!

Posted by: Mo | December 25, 2008 at 08:32 PM

I was making ridiculous noises as I was reading this post. They included: 'Haha, Awww, Haha, AwwW'

Posted by: Megan | December 25, 2008 at 09:49 PM

What a sweet picture! Your kids sure are adorable. And that Santa is great too.

Posted by: April | December 26, 2008 at 01:28 AM

Ezra's camouflage is only going to work in extremly red environments. He'll never make it in the jungle. Best keep him in the city where he can blend in with the gangs.

Posted by: Cat | December 26, 2008 at 10:16 AM

Cute picture! Sometimes camouflage is the best defense against a giant bearded man in red...

Posted by: Jenni Jiggety | December 26, 2008 at 11:43 AM

Ha! That's a great face! :)

Posted by: Haley-O | December 26, 2008 at 03:01 PM

I can definitely relate to this!
MiniHipster.com is a street-style blog on kids fashion, so we are always confronted with the little devils pulling a face at the most inconvenient times.

Inconvenient, at least, for the one behind the camera - funny faces are never so for the little ones...

Posted by: MiniHipster | December 26, 2008 at 08:47 PM

Ah, you seem to have reached what we here at Critical Mass call the hyena period. Smiling for the camera is more an act of baring the teeth than actual mirth. It lasted about a year with Z. Enjoy!

Posted by: Rae Ann | December 26, 2008 at 10:22 PM

We have you beat...we paid about $25 for kindergarten pics in which my son is channeling Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade. Such a proud, proud parenting moment.

Posted by: Missie | December 27, 2008 at 03:23 PM

Oh my God, you have the BEST Santa. If I lived anywhere near you I would insist you tell me where he is. The boys look great, too. =)

Posted by: Carolyn | December 27, 2008 at 05:14 PM

What a great Santa photo.

Happy Holidays.

Posted by: Jenn | December 27, 2008 at 09:55 PM

Dude, how do you get your kid to sit on Santa's lap!?! Mine HOWL and run from the room screaming whenever they see the bearded man.
Lucky dog.

Posted by: Jessica (from It's my life...) | December 27, 2008 at 10:41 PM

You got both kids with Santa, Noah looking at the camera, wearing a cute sweater, and neither of them screaming? Amy Storch, FOR THE CHRISTMAS WIN.

Happy, happy holidays to you and your wonderful family!

Posted by: Elizabeth | December 28, 2008 at 10:22 AM

I LIKE that photo!! :)
Goobers are cute, too.

And you guys found a really nice, jolly-looking Santa, too!

Happy Holidays to you and yours :)
And lots of yummy pie, too!
