A Completely Non-Essential Essential Tremor Update
Whack-a-Squirrel

Booming

I have no idea what to write about, because I am having troubled coming up with any string of words or letters or even basic sounds that would come close to what life is like around my house right now.

This is the closest I've been able to come:

GAHGAHAGHAHFOSDLHJKAWIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
(needsmoreEEEEEE)KJALZPP;A,K293,A,NA,N>>>"*@#&DKJN

I should copy/paste that so I can have it handy for the next person who asks, "So how's it going?"

The house is almost ready to sell. Once the dishwasher get repaired tomorrow, because OF COURSE the dishwasher choose this very moment to break.

(But it's fixable! And we are getting it fixed! Have no fear, prospective homebuyers. It just needed some little hose-y part replaced and we have ordered a top-of-the-line little hose-y part and will have it professionally repaired by a licensed and bonded hose-y part expert. Spared no expense! We also refinished the deck!)

In the meantime, I am literally spending hours every day handwashing a million dishes, instead of tackling the last few to-do items before we list.

1) WASH WINDOWS.

2) HIDE A SHITLOAD OF SHIT IN ATTIC.

3) VACUUM LIKE AN INSANE PERSON.

4) CHUCK ALL THE BIKES/SCOOTERS/SKATEBOARDS INTO OUR NEIGHBORS' BACKYARD, BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT WAS OKAY BUT PROBABLY 1) DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MANY BIKES/SCOOTERS/SKATEBOARDS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HERE, AND 2) WERE JUST BEING NICE BECAUSE WE GAVE THEM OUR DOUBLE STROLLER FOR FREE EVEN THOUGH HAHAHAHAHAHA LIKE I CARED I JUST NEED THINGS OOOOOOOUUUUUUTTTTT OF MY HOOOOOUUUUUUSE.)

(breeeeeeeeeathe, self, breeeeeeeeeathe)

There's just a LOT going on right now, and I feel like I'm playing an endless, futile game of whack-a-mole trying to keep everything clean and organized and for the kids to not scuff the same damn wall I've Magic Erasered and repainted already. Everywhere I look I see another small thing that needs to be decluttered or patched or touched up. I'm filling up bins with no idea where I'm going to put said bins and whhhhhhyyyyy do we have so much craaaaaapppppp, etc. etc. etc.

Oh, and Jason is in Chicago until Thursday. So. Yeah. Damn, that internal screaming is getting CRAZY loud all of a sudden.

Thanks, Liz.

On Saturday, we planned to stick with our usual Fourth of July tradition of ice cones followed by watching fireworks while sitting on top of the car in the parking lot. Noah (who is really really really really suddenly excited about the move and like, wants to move RIGHT NOW YESTERDAY) admitted that he was going to miss this, since we'll most likely attend a different fireworks celebration from now on.

And I had to admit that I would to, and had a definite moment of what are we thinking, we love it here, oh my god, moving is a terrible idea.

But then it turned out that the fireworks moved to a different location, so we had to do ice cream first, then drive elsewhere.

And then it turned out we parked too far away and couldn't see the fireworks from the top of the car.

And we ended up stuck behind an office building that blocked at least half of the show.

The kids didn't mind. They saw (and heard) enough to declare the night a success and super fun and FIREWORKS 4-EVA.

Lots of stuff is changing for us.

Luckily all the important parts are still the same.

I think we were in the exact same parking lot you were. We couldn't see anything either.

I cannot believe your house is almost ready for sale! You must have been working nonstop for weeks. Have you found a new home yet?

Your moving anxiety is piling onto mine, except I am not moving until next May. Still, I am having to control myself to NOT start packing now. Took me a month to pack last time. Am slow.

I SO FEEL YOU. Our dishwasher also chose the week before our second-to-last move to completely bite it. Right when you need another hassle and/or expense!

Just finished a move 5 days ago with an almost-4-year-old and a 5-month-old. It was AWFUL the few days right around the move, but now that we're here in our upgraded house, with everyone sleeping in their own rooms, I'm ecstatic. GOOD LUCK AND DRINK ALL THE WINE. It's your friend.

Emily

I KNEW YOU'D COME TO YOUR SENSES AND MOVE TO THE CORRECT SIDE OF THE RIVER WELCOME TO VIRGINIAAAAAAAAAAA!

(Maybe?)

(Am I just a little bit right?)

Dona

Fingers in my ears; shouting LALALALALALALA. Not wanting you to move away from Bethesda. Hey, our back-door neighbors are selling their house. They even have an office in a separate building! Great school! Fun neighborhood!

I'd take boom over beep any day (although, admittedly, I'm over the booms of the fireworks two days later, knowing I should just get used to them since they'll probably continue until July 21st or some dumbness).

Sabrina

Good luck keeping the boys bathroom clean while trying to sell. With 2 6-year old boys and a recently potty trained girl, we've been using a lot of febreeze so it doesn't always smell like disenfectant when someone comes to look at the house.

All I can say is, you are a better (wo)man than me. I haven't moved in 8 years, have no actual plans to move, but even the thought of 'thinning' has me hiding under the bed (which manifests as netflix bingeing/avoidance) You are doing a great job at keeping it up while keeping sane. Go you!

Tricia

I'm getting ready to move too with a 3 month old and a 2 year old. I don't know WTF we're thinking lol. It doesn't help that we're looking at houses over an hour away. I'm going bonkers and I won't move again until the boys are strapping teenagers and can carry heavy things.

Heidi

One word: DUMPSTER. If I'd known how inexpensive it was to get one hauled in, then hauled away a few days later full of our crap, I'd have done it years ago. The only problem is that we got one 3 1/2 months ago when we listed our house, but now that we're actually moving, we need one again.
