THINGS CEIBA NO LIKE:

1)     MAILMAN

2)     FOOD THAT IS NOT WAFFLES

3)     CHILDREN WHO NO SHARE WAFFLES

4)     WHEN CAT STEALS BEST SUNBEAM SPOT

5)     FLEAS AND TICKS

Things Max is not particularly a fan of:

1)     Online meme-y catspeak that really demeans us all, if you think about it

2)     Not being fed right this second

3)     Or this second

4)     Dog getting up in his face while he’s just trying to chill in a sunbeam

5)     Fleas and ticks

I remain neutral on the great sunbeam turf war but at least I’ve got them thoroughly covered on number 5, thanks to Adams Flea & Tick Control Products.

Oh yeah. IT’S ON.

While I can’t think of ANYTHING that ISN’T terrible about a flea infestation, I will say the WORST part is the re-infestation, right when you think you’ve got the situation under control. Or noticing the OTHER pet, who was just fine the first million times you checked, suddenly scratching like crazy. COME ON.

We’ve been really pretty fortunate that our pets have stayed mostly pest-free, but I like to think it’s because we’re not idiots about it. (Unlike…everything else in my adult life.) I check them frequently, shampoo Ceiba regularly, and we treat our backyard, where both pets like to chill. Kill the suckers before they start getting all bite-y.

Admittedly, though, sometimes I go too long without thinking about it, only to be jolted back to reality when one of my neighbors reports finding a tick on their dog or child, or I notice a dog whose butt Ceiba regularly sniffs scratching himself. Eeeeeeep.

The makers of Adams™ products graciously provided me with all the products above, and even better, offer free flea & tick outbreak alerts that you can sign up online for. Because of this helpful service I am willing to forgive them for the horrifying list of bug-related facts that they also sent to me, including the one that just 10 female fleas can lay 15,000 eggs in 30 days. Oh my freaking God, I AM SO ITCHY NOW.

But my pets, thankfully, are not.

(Ceiba, post-treatment with the Adams™ for Dogs Flea & Tick Spot On® via that handy-dandy Smart Shield® applicator, and who as per usual has no idea what just happened to her or what is going on, but did someone say waffles?)

Please note that while the Adams™ Yard & Garden spray kills and repels fleas, ticks, mosquitoes AND ants, it has proven useless against one other garden pest:

Love the Ceiba-speak even if Max is far above all that.

You gotta just make a planter out of that tire. Grow some pinot grigio. Everyone wins.

OMG. I will never forget the day I came home from the hospital with my second child and noticed my dogs both itching like crazy. Fleas! New Baby! Infestations! Thank GOD for these products.

Margaret

Fleas are nasty but ticks are the WORST! Ticks can spread Lyme disease to us and our pets. And Lyme-infested ticks are spreading further north (pretty endemic in the south). So yeah, tick prevention? I'm all over that!

Julie

I think you need to make a tire swing.

Katie

Adams flea products are AWFUL. Check online reviews, lots of people seem to agree. Lots of negative reviews, please check them out before purchasing.

It looks so much better spelled Ye Olde Tyre! Maybe you could get Adams to work on a Tyre Remover Spray.

Leigh Ann

Worse than the pet reinfestation is the infestation of your entire house, leading to purchase of industrial strength flea killer that husband has to spray quickly and thoroughly, then "Let's stay out of the house for 5 hours, okay kids?"

kimm

Good luck. We went through this twice in a row, once from the neighbors yard& flea-y dogs, once from our suitcases when we stayed with my sister whose house was infested (from 1 cat!) Not fun at all. There was 1 at least,in my hair, horrible!

Suzy Q

Adams products are very good, but I had to supplement my last infestation with light traps because my cat is all NO WAY with baths and sprays. The combo worked well.

Rebecca Van Hout

Even though it's pricey we treat all our pets with Revolution. All of them are flea and tick free! Worth the cost in my experience.

Arnebya

Make a damn tire swing already. I ain't be gotten no pets, but crabs is a bitch. I'm told.

Just a tip for anyone fighting fleas: After you get rid of the infestation, plant some oregano and pennyroyal around the house. And no, I'm not some crunchy, organic girl. Ain't nobody got time for that. I just know my mom's outside cat has never had fleas, let alone any of the indoor pets. Of course, outside cat insists on sleeping IN the oregano, so he smells a bit like a pizza. But that's better than fleas any day.

After we moved in to our house, the first warm day I planted a crop. No fleas in five years!!! (Which, of course, means that this year a flea plague will hit just to spite me.)
